Services deal builds on ten-year relationship.

Fujitsu Australia has won a new, $15m IT services contract with the West Australian Police.

Fujitsu wins $15m WA Police contract

Under terms of the three-year contract, Fujitsu will provide WA Police with program, project and change management systems as well as business analysis services.

The contract spans three years with a potential two-year extension, and encompasses "IT strategic services", which Fujitsu said was a new area for WA Police.

Services will be certified with PRojects IN Controlled Environments (PRINCE2) and Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) project management qualifications, according to Fujitsu's WA State Manager Robert Lislois.

He said ongoing WA Police requirements would "provide opportunities at Fujitsu for the right individuals", although he was unable to disclose the number of staff Fujitsu would dedicate to the contract.

A Fujitsu spokesperson told iTnews that the company had supported WA Police's business solutions for the past ten years, but that contract had been restructured for procurement purposes.

Fujitsu won the new contract following a "rigorous tender process" against other major ICT providers, according to WA Police A/Superintendent Bill Leonard.

Leonard said WA Police chose Fujitsu because it offered the flexibility to scale services up and down in alignment with business requirements.
