$92,430 piggyback contract announced.

The Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism (DRET) is implementing an electronic recruitment system to handle its experienced hires.

Contracted from HR software vendor NGA.NET for $92,430, the system is expected to significantly improve DRET's time to hire.

The e-recruitment system will handle DRET's recruitment process, from requisition -- which is the lodgement of a request to recruit -- to candidate assessment and on-boarding.

NGA.NET's chief sales officer Karen Evans said it would assist with workflow management while replacing several of DRET's offline processes like requisition, which typically involved lengthy discussions and e-mails which may be difficult to track.

By automating processes like issuing letters of offer and allowing candidates to respond online, Evans said the system could halve the time taken by DRET to handle the administrative processes involved in recruitment.

The system is expected to be launched in June and integrate with traditional recruitment processes such as job board listings and dealings with recruiters.

The tender was announced last week following private discussions, in line with a syndicated procurement clause in NGA.NET's contract with the Australian National Archives.

It builds on a longstanding relationship between NGA.NET and DRET, which has used NGA.NET's turn-key volume recruitment software since its inception in 2007.

NGA.Net also counts among its clients Australia Post, Rio Tinto, the Australian Taxation Office, and David Jones. Evans said it was also in discussions with the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR).
