Quigley freed from executive chairperson role.

NBN Co has appointed former Morgan Stanley executive Harrison Young as chairperson of the NBN Co board, allowing Mike Quigley to focus solely on the chief executive role.

Quigley had previously held both the CEO and executive chair roles. Harrison's appointment freed Quigley to focus on his remaining roles as CEO and a director of the NBN Co board.

A statement from the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy (DBCDE) said that "several candidates" had been considered for the chairperson role.

The selection process involved executive headhunters Egon Zehnder, consultancy EWK and the secretary of the DBCDE.

Young is a director of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia and serves on the Court of Directors of the Bank of England.

He is also Chairman of Better Place (Australia) Pty Limited, an electric vehicle services provider.

He previously held a variety of roles at Morgan Stanley in Australia and throughout the region.

"I am very pleased to welcome the appointment of Mr Young as NBN Co Chairperson and am confident he will make a great contribution," Senator Conroy said.
