Secret clearance required.

CrimTrac is reorganising its executive team to cope with the growing IT demands of Australian law enforcement agencies.

CrimTrac reshuffles exec, seeks CIO

The government organisation is responsible for providing IT solutions that enable law enforcement agencies to share information nationally.

Acting CEO Jeff Storer will move into a newly created COO role that will see him making "substantially more strategic" decisions.

Meanwhile, some of his current responsibilities as Deputy CEO (Support) will fall to a newly created CIO position that is yet to be filled.

The CIO will lead a team that is responsible for developing IT architecture and applications, while the COO ensures CrimTrac delivers on target.

The CIO will receive a total package of $250,000. The ideal candidate will have more than ten years' experience in the industry, and qualifications in business or technology, Storer said.

Because of the sensitive nature of the job, the CIO will be expected to have "secret clearance" according to the Commonwealth Protective Security Manual.

Storer said that CrimTrac has grown significantly since its inception ten years ago.

"CrimTrac was a very small organisation not too many years ago," he said. "We make sure that police have the right information at the right time."

"It's [the reason for the new roles] just a change in demand, because of our success over the years," he told iTnews.
