Avaya to consolidate global communications.

Deutsche Bank has announced it is to consolidate its global telecommunications operations using Avaya's session initiation protocol (SIP)-based Aura system for 3,100 buildings in 72 countries.

The project is expected to complete in three and five years.

Avaya says Deutsche Bank's "hundreds of private branch exchanges will collapse to just five primary servers," with the core Avaya IP telephony infrastructure located in Deutsche Bank's data centres.

The services to be run from these primary servers include IP telephony and other applications, such as software-based desktop clients allowing click-to-dial.

They will also enable single-number access for multiple devices, such as desktop phones, IP softphones and smartphones.
