Moffatt resigns from Telstra

The managing director of Telstra's consumer group David Moffatt resigned today after almost a decade with the telco.

Moffat was responsible for managing the provisioning of fixed and mobile communications as well as broadband and entertainment services for Telstra's consumer arm.

He also managed the Telstra Shop retail chain and Telstra's national network of mobile phone dealers as well as Telstra's information, connection and payphone services.

Before his consumer role, Moffatt was Telstra's chief financial officer and group managing director of finance and administration, a role he assumed in February 2001.

"With the mass market transformation, and the customer migration in particular, nearing completion, now is the right time for a new generation of leaders to be given the opportunity to take the business into its next phase of growth," Moffatt said in a statement.

He will remain in the role for the next six months or until a suitable successor was in place, Telstra said.
