Logical opts for name change

Global system integrator Logical Networks has changed its name to Logicalis to support market expansion.

Stuart Hendry, managing director at Logical in Australia, said  the new name would be used in every region the UK-based group operated. The name change will take effect worldwide early November.

“[Logicalis] has the advantage of evolving from our current brand which, together with what we do – integration -- reflects a distinctive re-positioning,” he said.

Logicalis, he pointed out, was a “unique word”.

Hendry said the group operated in Asia-Pacific, Europe, North and South America and hinted at further expansion.

“Logicalis ... is distinct enough to support our expansion into other geographies,” Hendry said.

No associated structural ownership or day-to-day operational changes were planned for the company, according to Logical.

Logical began operating in the Pacific region in 1981, as a multi-vendor provider of systems and networking.

Internationally, the group has around 1,000 staff and 5,000 clients. Major partners include HP, IBM and Cisco Systems.

The group is worth about US$400 million in revenue from its operations in the US, UK, Germany, Australia, NZ, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil. While based in the UK, Logical Networks is a subsidiary of South African company Datatec, a US$2 billion business listed in Johannesburg.
