HP prints itself a green suit

HP boasts that its latest Deskjet D2545, which is effectively 83 percent recycled plastic, will debut as part of the company's new "green focussed label", which will also include various other HP products in the near future.

With green becoming the new black where IT trends are concerned, HP seems to be playing straight into the green-fingered hands of customers looking for both low prices (the D2545 is currently priced at US$45) and a clean conscience.

The company has even gone as far as ensuring that the print cartridges are fashioned from recycled plastic resins to tempt those with environ-mental tendencies.

Several other printers are also currently available under HP's green label including the LaserJet P4015x, P4515x, and P4515xm models. But the company has said that many other HP products will soon be joining the eco printers as the company aims to green up all its other products eventually too.

The computer giant has also said that it is aiming to have 100 percent of its Deskjet printers made from recyclables by 2010, and triple the number of inkjets made from reused bits of plastic.

Now if HP could just come up with a paper-less printing now that would be something to shout from the treetops.
