The awards covered 44 categories, recognising excellence in the provision of IT products and services, voted for by IT professionals using an online voting form conducted by AC Nielsen, to guarantee voting integrity.

Over 320 members of the IT&T community attended a gala dinner at Australian National Maritime Museum on Thursday night for the inaugural Penton Media IT&T Awards.

“We received over 13,000 online votes for these awards,” said Paul Osborne, MD of Penton Media. “These awards truly recognise the leaders in each field, voted for by the people who use their products and services.”

“It was an outstanding night and truly set the standard for industry awards,” said Osborne. The event will return in 2003.

The sell-out event was hosted by ABC personality Tony Squires, and after dinner entertainment was provided by Sydney crooner, Frank Bennett.

As well as the product and service awards, there were awards for the best CIOs, best innovative use of IT, and three IT industry leaders were inducted into the Hall of Fame in recognition of their outstanding service to the industry.
