Motorola has wrapped up its acquisition of online music provider Soundbuzz..

Completion of the deal sets the stage for Motorola to extend its MotoMusic platform, which is already proving successful in China, India and southeast Asia.

"This marks a major milestone as it positions Soundbuzz and Motorola to better participate in the ongoing growth in Asia's booming mobile music download market," said Sudhanshu Sarronwala, chief executive at Soundbuzz.

The combined platforms means that MotoMusic now has a presence in 13 countries in Asia-Pacific.

Motorola has licensing agreements with Sony BMG, EMI, Warner Music International, Universal Music Group and over 45 independent record labels from around the world.

"Music is the heart and soul of the mobile entertainment experience and, with Soundbuzz as a part of our family, Motorola has the biggest heart and the most soul in Asia," said Ian Chapman-Banks, vice president of mobile devices marketing at Motorola Asia-Pacific.

"With a library of over 750,000 songs and half a million mobile music derivatives, Motorola now offers an extensive music collection for download either via the internet or directly to your mobile device."

Soundbuzz will maintain its Singapore headquarters, along with offices in Mumbai and Sydney, and will become the core component of Motorola's mobile entertainment arm in Asia-Pacific.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
