Demand for more IT services in WA

Western Australian based, Westway Nominees owns long running IT service company Bekkers and Web company Bam Creative.

Miles Burke director at Westway Nominees said the company was attracted to Reynolds Technology because it was a natural fit to its own brands and offerings under both Bekkers, a mid-sized IT consulting firm, and Bam Creative, a web design and development company.

“Reynolds Technology has been operating since 1994, and provides internet access, website development and IT consulting and sales,” Burke said. “We made the decision in December last year to acquire Reynolds. We have known the owners for years and saw synergies in both products and services.”

Reynolds Technology will remain branded as is and will be a separate business unit under the deal, with most staff being retained in key positions said Burke.

“This will take our total staff numbers up to 51 and we are looking to recruit another three more employees. This time last year we only had 32 staff members,” he said.

According to Burke, due to the resource boom in Western Australia there has been a lot of pressure on businesses of all sizes to retain staff and improve IT and Web systems.

“Given the difficulty organisations are having in retaining staff it is a lot easier to outsource to organisations such as ourselves, especially in the smaller market,” he said.

With many WA organisations only using WA-based suppliers due to the tyranny of distance, Westway are hot on the acquisition trail.

“We hope to sign up another organisation by the middle of the year,” Burke said.

Since 2006, Westway Nominees has acquired the businesses of Bam Creative, Onsite Applications and Cube7. Both web companies, Bam Creative and Cube7, also had further budget web brands, Weblaunch and SiteNow. Westway Nominees also launched Jaks Art, a canvas photo printing business based in Subiaco, and BB Hosting, a new wholesale co-location business that runs Westway Nominees' data centre in Bayswater.
