Microsoft has licensed Adobe's Flash Lite software, which is designed for to enable Flash applications and web pages on mobile devices, creating a Flash plug-in for Internet Explorer Mobile..

Along with its mobile Flash platform, Redmond has also licensed Reader LE, the mobile version of Adobe's Acrobat PDF reader.

John O'Rourke, general manager of the mobile communications business at Microsoft, said: "Bringing Flash Lite and Reader LE to the Windows Mobile experience will give consumers more of their favourite websites on the go."

Microsoft is currently developing its own mobile version of its competing Silverlight web platform, and although there are beta versions being tested, currently there are no set dates for its release.

However, neither company can confirm exactly when Adobe Flash Lite and Reader LE availability for Windows Mobile phones will be available, although Microsoft has said it will be before the release of Windows Mobile 7.
