IP voice carrier, ISPhone Australasia has expanded its Australian network via the addition of two new POPs and the launch of it wholesale ADSL2+ DSL product.

The voice carrier announced in February that it would transition itself away from a pure VoIP focus, by building its own telecommunications network.

“Previosuly we only came out with specific voice products and now we have redefined a whole suite of product based on our new network,” said James Spenceley, chief technology officer at ISPhone.

As part of its ongoing expansion plans, ISPhone has launched two new carrier-neutral points of presence (POPs) - Global Switch in Sydney, and Global Centre in Melbourne, said Spenceley.

“The new POPs, part of a network build-out which will see a total of 14 across the country by June next year, are part of ISPhone’s bid to get to the heart of the Internet in Australia,” he said.

Off the back of that announcement, ISPhone has also released an ADSL2+ product to the smaller business market, avoiding the temptation of running voice traffic across the public Internet.

The addition of a last mile product, is first of a number of new service offerings due for completion in Q4 2007, including a national call collection and wholesale pre-select/override service, said Spenceley.
