Intel partners with PGP for storage encryption

Data security 'for the masses'.

Security firm PGP has announced an agreement with Intel to deliver a variety of data security offerings ranging from full disk encryption to encrypted local and portable storage.

The joint offerings will operate on new Intel Centrino and Intel vPro processor-based systems running Windows Vista or XP.

Data protection will be provided by PGP's Encryption Platform technology, which provides a framework for enterprise-wide user provisioning and enforcement of data encryption policy across multiple PGP and third-party encryption applications.

PGP's Whole Disk Encryption protects data with transparent encryption which the company claims locks down a drive without changing user behaviour or workflow.

"This market-driven agreement helps bring data security to the masses," said Phillip Dunkelberger, president and chief executive at PGP.
