Telstra slashes Next G pricing as 3G market heats up

Marking the end of a busy week for 3G news, Telstra BigPond has announced that it is dropping the pricing for its high-end Next G plans and has removed excess fees for a new 25GB fixed broadband plan.

The BigPond price drop greatly benefits users of BigPonds’s high-end Super G Fast 3GB plan, which has had $70 slashed off its monthly price, reducing it from $184.95 to $114.95 per month.

The Relocatable 3GB plan has dropped to $109.95 per month while the Mobile 1GB plan has had a price cut of $30 per month.

For fixed broadband users, BigPond has launched a new Liberty plan that features 25GB of download data, without excess data charges. Once data quotas have been met, Liberty users will have their speeds shaped to 64Kbps.

The new plans are $10 more per month than a BigPond Liberty 12GB ADSL plan and $20 more per month than a BigPond Liberty 12GB Cable plan.

BigPond’s price drops come as the 3G market heats up with announcements this week from Vodafone and Optus who both declared they would build and complete nationwide 3G networks by December 2008.
