Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art hacked?

SYDNEY - Security experts are mum on claims by Search engine Google that Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art website contains malicious ‘badware’.

Google is currently prohibiting users searching for the Museum from accessing the site and instead warns users to go directly to the URL www.mca.com.au “at your own risk”.

“You landed on this page because Google's independent testing has found that some portion of the site you were attempting to reach contains or links to badware,” warned Google.com.au

The search engine is part of StopBadware.org, a collaboration by the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University, the Oxford Internet Institute, Google, Lenovo, and Sun Microsystems.

StopBadWare.org is described as the ‘global neighbourhood watch’ campaign aimed at fighting against ‘badware', its chosen term to describe uninvited software including spyware, malware, and Trojans.

However, media spokespersons for security vendor Websense said it was not aware of such malware and a spokesperson for Sophos said the vendor would not further comment on the findings.

The Museum of Contemporary Art advised ITnews's sister publication, SC, to contact the site managers and designers, Deepend. Deepend did not respond to an opportunity to comment.
