Internet For Business intros 'cloud level' service.

Internet For Business, an ISP based in Scotland, has joined a small but growing band of providers offering to filter spam and viruses for its customers.

The SafeMail service is managed in-house by Internet For Business and has been designed to combat the increasing volume of email-borne viruses and spam. The service filters these threats upstream of customers' networks.

Internet For Business has more than 100,000 business subscribers, including public sector organisations and companies from large blue-chips to sole traders.

A significant increase in spam is expected in the run up to Christmas, and pressure has been growing steadily on ISPs to filter email at 'cloud level' before it reaches company networks and email inboxes.

BT announced last month that it has implemented what it claims to be the world's first fully automated 'spam buster' system.
