Linux vendor taps into reseller network to push middleware.

Linux vendor Red Hat has unveiled a bundle of its open source middleware applications that are based on the Jboss software that it acquired earlier this year.

The new Red Hat Application Stack is available as an annual subscription including support and updates. It bundles the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system with the Jboss Application Server and Jboss Hibernate object-relational mapping service.

The package also comes with support for the MySQL and PostgreSQL open source databases.

Red Hat touted the package as a solution for Java developers and companies looking for an inexpensive way to start using Service Oriented Architectures (SOAs).

The new offering makes the existing Jboss applications available through Red Hat's network of distributors and resellers. Jboss previously mainly relied on direct sales.

Packages start at US$1,995 per server per year.
