My Net Fone has announced that it has received greater than expected demand for its VoIP services since listing on the ASX in May.

The company, which launched with its own network in December 2004, has reported that its paying subscribers at June exceeded 12,500. This represented an increase of 25 percent since April, when the company’s prospectus was lodged with the ASIC.

In an ASX statement the company said strong growth in VoIP traffic was translating to a lower wholesale purchasing rate, thus allowing the company to compete more effectively.

Traffic for the My Net Fone’s VoIP network exceeded 10 million minutes in May.

The company now expected to shortly announce several new initiatives aimed at increasing this current growth spurt. This would include a range of new plans which would take advantage of decreasing wholesale rates.
