Intel has cancelled its Intel Developer Forum (IDF) conference in Taipei and Beijing due to the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).

In response to customers' concerns over SARS, the IDF management team has cancelled these two conferences and will refund attendee fees.

According to a notice on IDF's website, Intel will also change the format of the scheduled conferences, and will present technology content updates and press announcements over the coming months.

The IT conferences were to be held Taipei and Beijing, scheduled for April 13-15 and 17-18, respectively. The vendor host still expects to host its other scheduled IDF's for this year at Tokyo, Bangalore, and Berlin.

Although travel is not being restricted to SARS affected areas, the Department of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel advisory strongly recommending that Australians defer all non-essential travel to Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Vietnam.
