Broad-based distributor Ingram Micro has signed a national distribution agreement with Fujitsu PC to handle its LifeBook notebook and Stylistic pen tablet brands.

The deal makes Ingram Fujitsu's third official distributor in this country. The other two are Digiland and Westan.

Ettore Alterisio, business Manager at Ingram Micro, said the range offered 'excellent value' to its resellers and customers in corporate, retail, government and education verticals.

'We confidently expect end users in these markets to react very positively,' he said. 'We pride ourselves on being associated with only the best technology brands across the region.'

Fujitsu PC aimed to expand its share of the notebook and pen tablet market in Australia in particular, he said.

The distributor wanted to keep expanding its product range and network of resellers, Alterisio said.

Adrian Mead, marketing manager at Fujitsu PC Australia said Fujitsu needed a distributor large enough to handle a recognised regional brand that could also take a 'boutique approach' to customer service.

'Australia poses unique distribution challenges both from a geographical distance and population spread perspective,' he said.

Mead said that, since Ingram Micro was one of the largest distributors in Australia and the region, it would be best placed to assist Fujitsu to increase its Australian sales.

Fujitsu is a Japan-based vendor of PCs, telecommunications, and associated hardware for corporate and consumer markets in the Asia-Pacific region.

The company reported consolidated revenue of 4.6 trillion yen (A$58.3 billion) for the financial year ending 31 March 2003.
