Microsoft ditches Mobile and Embedded DevCon

Microsoft has cancelled its Mobile and Embedded DevCon events in 2008, despite attracting more than 8,500 people last year..

The American leg was supposed to run in Las Vegas in May 2008, but Microsoft sent out an email telling prospective attendees that it had been cancelled.

"It makes sense since mobile and embedded development is becoming more mainstream and thus should be covered at the same events as other technologies, " Frank Prengel wrote on the MSDN blog.

Mike Hall said on the official MEDC 2007 blog: "TechEd 2008 is one of the events that will be replacing Mobile and Embedded DevCon this year.

"We will have an embedded track at TechEd Developers which is running from 3 to 6 June. We will also have sessions at TechEd IT Pro mostly focused around device management."
