Crossdown offers you the opportunity to create your own crosswords from scratch, having complete control over how the grid is laid out, what the clues are and, of course, what the answers are.

Obviously, if you design the crossword you won't want to solve it because you'll know all the answers already! This is why there is full support for printing your compiled crosswords, to be used on newsletters etc.

There are even facilities to incorporate them as interactive elements on a website, using a Java applet available from the Crossdown website.

The crosswords are really easy to make, with everything being simplified as much as possible. Just create your grid pattern, fill in the spaces with your chosen answers and then use the Autoclue facility to write the clues to your chosen answers.

The crossword numbering is done for you, eliminating the possibility of human error in labelling the clues.

You can link Crossdown to your favourite dictionary, ensuring that all clues and solutions are spelt correctly, and there's also the option of linking to a thesaurus.

There are even facilities to gather all sorts of statistical data on your puzzles, such as average word length and number of black squares etc, for those of you with an analytical mind.
