CuteFTP is one of the most popular FTP clients on the market, and it does
feature a fair bit more than others.
It looks and operates like most FTP clients, featuring a dual-pane window and
a progress bar at the bottom. All common functions can be accessed via the
graphical toolbar, with advanced functions available from the many menus.
As expected, CuteFTP supports Drag & Drop, has a connection wizard for
FTP beginners and an address book for storing those regularly accessed sites.
The address book can be encrypted (with Blowfish) to keep things secure.
It has support for firewalls, and a wide variety of host types, including
VMS, MVS, QVTNET, Novell and Chameleon.
Automatic connection of the best transfer mode is useful, but you can also
force a particular transfer method if you wish. Site to site transfer is
possible, cutting out your PC completely.
During transfer, file extensions can be renamed (e.g. from .htm to .html).
New features within version 8.0 include the facility to backup your data to a
remote location (such as being able to backup your files to a folder on your
homepage), an advanced search tool, turbo transfer to speed-up your file
transfers and much more.
