Twitter is a good way of following your friends, family and interesting users who post status messages and observations, through the day. Problem is for many corporate users, who like to follow hundreds of other users, is that it’s too difficult to keep up with all the different tweets. You spend too long on Twitter and less time on your work.
Corporations have realised this and are keeping tabs on what you can and can’t do on your computer. Where we work, we’re banned from eBay, Facebook and many social networking sites during working hours. Understandable. However, this still leaves messengers, Twitter clients and other chat clients.
For this reason, Spreadtweet is a tool that enables users to hide their tweets through an application that doesn’t appear to be a Twitter client. For example, you can choose between an Office 2003 or Office 2007 interface, so it appears to your boss that you are working on a spreadsheet if he walks past your desk.
We’re not sure if we can ‘recommend’ this type of application, but this is here for you to make your own decision on how you value your contribution to your work and corporation. The download here is also for the Office 2007 edition. It’s based on Adobe Air so it will work on Windows, Mac and Linux platforms (although it might look odd having an Office 2007 interface on a Linux computer).
