Buy a new component for your PC and it will ship with drivers that were put on the accompanying disc at the time the manufacturer shipped the device. In certain situations this could have been months before an update to an operating system. For example, it’s too easy for a driver to be incompatible with the latest Windows Vista SP1, which results in a catch-22. Your hardware may not be compatible, which means you can’t use Vista to obtain the latest driver.

The problem is made worse if you need to re-install your operating system. You may have components in your computer which isn’t always compatible with the operating system being re-installed.

One solution is to store and backup your drivers elsewhere and then simply re-install them back on to your computer en-masse, rather than have to search and locate individual updates to each component driver.

DriverBackup 2.0 is a simple tool that will examine your PC for your installed drivers, enable you to select the drivers you want to backup, save them all to a disc, removable drive or other device. You can then restore if you have system issues in the future.
